2024 Year in Review
It’s time for our 2024 Year in Review article. As the year comes to a close, we want to take this opportunity to reflect on a year of growth, change, and advocacy. But it wasn’t without struggles. From major global events to pivotal legal advancements, 2024 has been one for the books. Here, we present a brief summary of significant happenings across the countries we currently serve: United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Note: Watch for exciting news as we add more countries to the BonePage.com community in the coming months. Exciting things are happening!
Advocating for Human Rights
BonePage.com has been committed to our support of freedom of speech, human rights, and the fight against human trafficking. Check our BonePage Blog and you will see we have broadened our scope to take advantage of our growth and this platform. This year saw significant advancements and challenges in these areas:
- LGBTQ+ Rights: In the United States, legislative battles over LGBTQ+ rights continued to make headlines. Some states sought to pass laws restricting gender-affirming care, while others pushed forward protections for transgender individuals. Meanwhile, Canada upheld its reputation as a leader in LGBTQ+ inclusivity by expanding protections for queer youth in schools.
- Equality and Human Rights: Australia made strides with the passage of legislation aimed at addressing pay inequality, ensuring greater fairness in workplaces across the nation. The United Kingdom also took steps to combat discrimination by enhancing policies to protect marginalized groups.
- Human Trafficking: Across all four countries, governments strengthened anti-human trafficking laws and ramped up efforts to prosecute offenders. BonePage has been a vocal supporter of these measures, contributing to awareness campaigns and forming alliances with organizations dedicated to eradicating this heinous crime. We are firmly committed to the fight against human trafficking. As such, we are a regular contributor to Polaris Project.
Sex News and Legal Developments
2024 also saw transformative developments in the realm of sex news and legislation:
- Decriminalization Movements: Australia made headlines by advancing efforts to decriminalize sex work in key regions, promoting safety and rights for sex workers. Similarly, parts of the U.S. saw local debates over decriminalization gain traction, signaling a shift in societal attitudes.
- Educational Initiatives: Canada and the U.K. launched comprehensive sex education reforms, emphasizing consent, inclusivity, and the impact of technology on relationships.
- FOSTA/SESTA: This harmful legislation in the United States remains the law of the land, however, a number of groups are working to revise these laws in order to formulate a more practical solution.
Strategic Alliances and Growth at BonePage
This year, BonePage formed important strategic alliances to further our mission of advocating for human rights and freedom of expression. These partnerships have enhanced our ability to support the LGBTQ+ community, fight human trafficking, and promote equality worldwide. We have become a contributor supporting the important work of The Trevor Project. We look forward to deepening these collaborations in 2025.
